"Living Artfully"

Delphine Peller

Studio: Raleigh/Wake Forest NC
Hometown: Jacksonville, Florida
Born: Rota, Spain; 1969

Artist Statement

Whether I am creating an abstract or photo-realistic piece, the strength of my work comes from my distinctive use of shadowing and color relationships. Nature inspires me when I see light being dramatized by saturated hues and shadowed forms.

My collage technique is work intensive, one painting may have three or more of my own works built upon itself. This medium is an excellent companion for my strong lines and shading by bringing together the elements of fine art, randomness, and creativity to achieve dynamic compositions.

Bio

Art has always been a part of Delphine's life; transforming her dorm room into an island paradise, making props for the kindergarten play, or just being called upon to help out when something needs to be made out of nothing. However, it was not until Delphine was faced with her diagnosis of the chronic illness Lupus in 1992 that she began to paint for herself. Art has been a big part of her life ever since and she enjoys acrylic, collage, digital, and watercolor painting. In 2011, she began children's art classes and after each class feels inspired and rejuvenated. Delphine is a mom of two busy kids and splits her studio time between home in North Raleigh and her studio in Wake Forest,
